Sixteenth-Ranked Herons Down Knights

Geneva, NY – Six Herons scored in double figures as 16th-ranked William Smith defeated the Clarkson University Women’s Basketball team 91-50 in Liberty League action Friday night.

 

The Golden Knights fell to 3-14 overall and 1-5 in the conference, while the Herons improved to 15-1 overall and a flawless 6-0 in the Liberty League.

 

Clarkson started off in the game with the Herons, trailing just 26-21 with a little under eight minutes to go. Just a few seconds after the Knights pulled within five, however, Paula Foote nailed a 3-pointer that started a 24-4 run to end the half, giving William Smith a 50-25 halftime edge, a deficit from which the Knights could not recover.

 

DeAndra Hebert (Heuvelton, NY) led Clarkson with 12 points, while Michelle Reddinger (Baldwinsville, NY) and Katie Goldberg (Stowe, VT) each tallied 10 points. Clarkson struggled on the boards, as the Knights were out rebounded 45-29.

William Smith had six players reach double figures with Latasha Coney leading the way with 16 points. The Herons assisted on 26 of their 39 field goals and also forced 26 turnovers.
