Gibbons Scores Career-Highs In Lopsided Win Over Plattsburgh

March 26, 2007

Plattsburgh, NY - Sophomore attackman Greg Gibbons (Baldwinsville, NY) produced a career-high eight points on six goals and two assists as the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team cruised to an overwhelming 19-6 victory over Plattsburgh State Monday afternoon.

The Golden Knights improved to 2-5 overall on the season, picking up their second win in the past three games, while the Cardinals dropped their first decision of the season to fall to 5-1. Clarkson's 19 goals against Plattsburgh were the most the team had scored in the past 43 games, going back to a 23-goal effort against Vassar College in the 2004 season.

Along with his eight-point day, Gibbons' six goals were also a new career-high, and he has tallied 10 goals over the past two contests. Sophomore Tom Ross (Adams, NY) added in four goals and two assists for six points, his single-game career-high. Another sophomore, Brian Hoey (Auburn, NY), also enjoyed a career day with four goals and an assist.

Clarkson, which has struggled at times offensively this season, had little difficulty against the Cardinals defense on Monday, scoring just 1:03 into the contest. The Knights scored seven goals in the first quarter, including six goals in a span of 9:31 to give the Knights a strong lead. Clarkson continued to hold a solid advantage for the remainder of the game and ended the contest with a spurt of eight unanswered goals.
