Orono, ME- Sophomore Britney Selina (Thornhill, ONT) scored both goals and freshman Eve Grandmont-Berube (Drummondville, QUE) was called upon to make just 12 saves as the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team shutout the University of Maine 2-0 on its home ice Friday night.

The Golden Knights, who won their second straight, improved their record to 6-2-1. The Black Bears fall to 1-7-1. Clarkson and Maine will face off again on Saturday at 2:00 pm.

Although they only won by two goals, the Knights dominated from the start against Maine, holding an overwhelming 51-12 advantage in shots, including a 19-3 margin the opening 20 minutes.

Clarkson’s offense efforts finally paid off in the second period when Selina tallied off an assist from classmate Genevieve Lavoie (Delson, QUE) just 54 seconds into the middle frame.

Selina connected for her team-high 5th goal of the year 2:37 into the third to provide Clarkson with all the scoring it would need. Freshman Melissa Waldie (Newmarket, ONT) set up the score.

Clarkson went 1-of-9 on the power play, while Maine had just one man-advantage opportunity.
