Potsdam, NY - For the second straight day, Clarkson goalkeeper Mike St. Croix (Watertown, NY) made some acrobatic saves to keep the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team in contention with its opponents, but the Golden Knights offense was stymied again as RIT downed the Green and Gold 2-0 in a non-league game Saturday afternoon at Clarkson Field.

The Golden Knights dropped to 0-5-1 overall and the team begins league action next weekend when it hosts Union and Skidmore. RIT improved to 1-4-1 on the season.

Neither team produced many legitimate chances in the first minutes of the half, but the Tigers were able to strike 20 minutes in when Peter Frandina lofted a shot from about 20 yards out over the outstretched St. Croix, who could only get a finger on the ball, as RIT went up 1-0. The Tigers produced their second goal at the 37:28 mark when Andrew Ong fed John Braswell up close. Braswell shot a bounding groundball that St. Croix overslid in his attempt to make the stop.

The second half saw both teams with decent chances, but both were unable to put another goal on the scoreboard.

Alan Smith made six saves for the shutout for RIT and St. Croix stopped eight shots for the Knights. RIT led 15-8 in shots and owned a 10-6 advantage in attempts on goal. The two teams were knotted at 4-4 in corner kicks.
