A 1-1 overtime tie against Colgate on Saturday night concluded a three-point weekend for the Clarkson University Hockey team against the two top teams in the ECAC Hockey League at Cheel Arena. On Friday, the Golden Knights knocked off league leader Cornell 3-1.

Clarkson, which improved its record to 14-13-3 overall and to 7-9-2 in the conference, will close out the home portion of the regular season next weekend when it hosts Yale and Brown.

Colgate's Kyle Wilson spoiled Clarkson's bid for a weekend sweep and sophomore goaltender David Leggio's (Williamsville, NY) effort for his first career shutout when he scored from the top of the crease for his team-high 22nd goal of the season to tie the contest at 8:06 of the third.

Sophomore Shawn Weller (South Glens Falls, NY) put the Knights on top in the first with a power-play marker at 11:49. With 27 seconds remaining in Clarkson’s only man-advantage opportunity of the opening stanza, Weller took a perfect pass from classmate Nick Dodge (Oakville, ONT) at the left side of the crease and easily tapped in his 13th goal of the season, giving the Green and Gold a power-play goal in each of the last seven games. Sophomore David Cayer (Longueuil, QUE) also set up the goal with a pass from the end boards out to Dodge at the top of the right circle.

The Knights had several opportunities to add to their lead throughout the remainder of the game, but could not capitalize on their remaining four power-play chances. Colgate was 0-of-4 with the man advantage.

Leggio finished with 24 stops as both teams had 25 shots on goal.
