Geneva, NY - Both the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team and Hobart College compiled impressive shot totals in their game Saturday afternoon, but only the Statesmen could put any of those shots into the net as the Knights dropped a 3-0 Liberty League decision Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Knights fell to 1-9-1 overall and 0-4 in conference while Hobart continued an impressive run this season, improving to 11-1 and 5-0. Clarkson faces league-rival St. Lawrence University next Saturday.
Philipp Schoeniger broke through for Hobart with an unassisted tally at 22:28 in the opening half, but Hobart couldn't come up with another score until early in the second half when Tucker Crockett added to the lead at 53:05 with the assist going to Matt Schwartz. The Statesmen added another goal late in the game with Dan Riso providing the goal and Brad Weinberg assisting at 74:15.
Hobart out shot Clarkson 23-15, including a 17-10 advantage in the second half, and edged out the Knights 6-2 in corner kicks. Pete Van Dellon recoreded six saves to earn the shutout for Hobart. David Hennessey (Wading River, NY) played the first half for Clarkson, facing just one shot, and Mike St. Croix (Watertown, NY) played the final 45 minutes, making two saves.
