Canton, NY - Despite numerous rallies late in the fourth and fifth games, the Clarkson University Volleyball team could not hold off St. Lawrence as the Golden Knights dropped a five-game decision to the Saints on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Knights moved to 5-22 on the season and close the regular season against the University of Scranton on Saturday afternoon. Clarkson ends the season in two weeks at the Liberty League Tournament.
The Golden Knights won two of the first three games with impressive serving, but their hitting failed them in the final games, falling 26-30, 30-26, 23-30, 30-26, 15-11. Sophomore Hilary Lockwood (Victor, NY) scored 15 kills and 4 aces to go along with 21 digs while seniors Katie Kreilach (West Leyden, NY) and Claire Horvath (South Bend, IN) each contribued 9 kills, with Horvath also recording 5 aces. Junior Katie Benson (Ashton, MD) recorded 31 digs, including 10 in the opening game, and freshman Jenna Stock (Johnstown, NY) added 37 assists and 11 digs.
