KNIGHTS SWEEP TRI-MATCH AGAINST UNION AND HAMILTON

Potsdam, NY - Senior Stephanie Thornton (Corning, NY) recorded 29 kills over two matches as the Clarkson University Volleyball team picked up two victories Saturday afternoon against Union and Hamilton in the annual tri-match.

The Golden Knights two victories moved them to 10-7 on the season. Union split for the day, moving to 3-13 overall, while the Continentals dropped both matches and fell to 3-8.

Thornton produced 16 kills and only two errors in 27 attempts against the Dutchmen to lead Clarkson to a four-game victory, 30-18, 30-28, 20-30, 30-25. Junior Claire Horvath (South Bend, IN) added 14 kills, 16 digs and five aces for the Knights. Suzanne Clarvoe (Hartwick, NY) also added 48 assists and 14 digs.

In Clarkson's second match, the Golden Knights downed Hamilton in three straight games, 30-24, 30-18, 30-26. Thornton again was the key player for the Knights with 13 kills and only three errors in 24 attempts. Also compiling solid numbers was libero Katie Benson (Ashton, MD), who came up with 25 digs. Katie Kreilach (West Leyden, NY) had a solid match against Hamilton as well with six kills and six blocks.

In the middle match of the day, Union defeated Hamilton in three straight games 30-25, 30-28, 30-21.
