KNIGHTS & DUTCHMEN to PLAY GAME 3 of 1st ROUND SERIES

The Clarkson University Hockey team will battle Union College in the deciding third game of their best-of-three first round Eastern College Athletic Conference Hockey League (ECACHL) series on Sunday after the Dutchmen rallied for a 2-1 overtime triumph Saturday night in Schenectady. The Golden Knights (12-20-3) defeated Union (12-21-2) 1-0 in overtime on Friday. Sunday’s game is a 7:00 p.m. start at Achilles Center.
 
After a scoreless first period in Game #2, Clarkson took the initial lead on sophomore defenseman Michael Grenzy’s (Lockport, NY) blast from the point at 3:11 of the middle frame. Sophomore blueline partner Max Kolu (Turku, Finland) and freshman center Nick Dodge (Oakville, ONT) assist on Grenzy’s fourth goal of the season.
 
Union tied it at 12:06 of the third for its first goal against the Knights in a span of 187:56 to force the second consecutive extra session between the two teams and then won it in overtime with the deciding goal at 9:21.
 
Junior Dustin Traylen (Kirkland, QUE) posted 28 saves as the Dutchmen out shot the Green and Gold 30-28. The Knights were 0-of-3 on the power play, while Union was 0-of-4.
