UNION SQUEAKS PAST CLARKSON, 67-62

Schenectady, NY - Though Union never trailed during Saturday's game against the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team, the Dutchmen should be happy to finish the regular season with a win over the Golden Knights as they eeked out a 67-62 Liberty League victory.

Clarkson closes the regular season with a 7-18 mark overall and 3-11 record in the conference. Union Moved to 14-11 overall and 8-6 in the Liberty League.

The Dutchmen enjoyed the lead throughout the final game of the regular season, but never were able to pull away from Clarkson, which pulled to within a single point in the final minute of the game after a 3-point field goal from Brandon Rigg-Reives (Elmont, NY). Four free throws made by Union in the waning seconds made for the final count.

Clarkson junior forward Russ Vitallo (Dracut, MA) scored 23 points, his third consecutive 20-point effort, on 8-for-19 shooting from the field and a perfect 7-for-7 showing from the free throw line. Classmate Chet Truskowski (Hammond, NY) scored 12 points off the bench, shooting 4-for-6 from beyond the 3-point arc. Sophomore forward Jon Youngmann (Corinth, NY) contributed nine points and six rebounds.

Joe Mackey scored a team-high 17 points to lead Union and Devon Bruce added 16 points and eight rebounds.
