Geneva, NY - For the second straight game, the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team's offense was held down by their opponents as the Golden Knights dropped a 56-34 Liberty League decision to William Smith Friday night.
The Golden Knights fell to 4-18 overall and 1-10 in conference play while William Smith improved to 13-6 and 8-2. Clarkson faces Hamilton College tomorrow afternoon in Clinton, NY.
Clarkson trailed by just eight points at the end of the first half, 24-16, but the Herons used a 25-14 burst to take a 19-point lead with just 5:46 remaining in the game.
Mickala Henson (Waverly, NY) scored a team-high 11 points to lead the Knights, while Sarah Wesner (Sidney, NY) added 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals. Linda Fernandez (Kennebunkport, ME) added eight points and two steals for the Golden Knights.
Three players scored in double figures for the Herons, with Marisa Vespa recording 10 points, 9 assists and 6 steals for William Smith.
