HOBART DOWNS CLARKSON 74-39

February 11, 2005

Geneva, NY – The Clarkson University Men’s Basketball team suffered a letdown Friday night against Hobart College, falling 74-39 in a Liberty League conference game.

The Golden Knights, who fell to 7-15 overall and 3-8 in conference play, were clearly still weary from their two-point overtime loss to St. Lawrence on Tuesday and struggled from the start of Friday’s game. Hobart improved to 12-8 overall and 7-3 in the Liberty League.

Clarkson couldn’t get their offense going in the first half, committing nine turnovers in the first nine minutes of the game and fell behind by double digits early, a hole from which they could never recover for the remainder of the game. Hobart took a 35-15 lead into the locker room despite shooting just 36.4% from the floor. Clarkson’s 11 first-half turnovers added to the Knights’ troublesome shooting as they shot just 6-for-22.

Chet Truskowski (Hammond, NY) finished as the team’s high scorer with nine points in 22 minutes of action. Junior Russ Vitallo (Dracut, MA) was next with six points. Colby Feane scored 16 points for the Statesmen, while Joe Virgilio followed with 14 points.
