KNIGHTS FALL TO SKIDMORE, 3-1

Potsdam, NY - Ben Shriner scored two goals as Skidmore defeated the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team 3-1 in a Liberty League match up Friday afternoon at Clarkson Field.

The Golden Knights fell to 3-9 overall and 1-3 in the Liberty League while the Thoroughbreds moved to 7-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference. Clarkson faces Union in their final conference home game of the season at 2:00 pm Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights fell behind early when Shriner scored at the 2:54 mark when he scored off a deflection that got past Clarkson goaltender David Hennessey (Wading River, NY). Shriner added another goal early in the second half off a Van Haskell pass at the 51:14 mark. Skidmore added another tally when Alex MacFadyen hit a groundball to the right-hand post on a pass from Brian Kuritzky.

The Golden Knights, who did have several excellent scoring chances in each half, finally got on the scoreboard at the 67:09 mark when Ismael Mohammad (Rochester, NY) scored from 20 yards out on a shot to the left-hand post. David Fellegara (Fairport, NY) was awarded the assist.

Hennessey recorded seven saves while Rollie Kielman made six stops for Skidmore. The Throughbreds enjoyed a narrow advantage in shots, 16-12, while the corner kicks were even at 3-3.
