The Clarkson University Swim teams fell in their season opener on Friday afternoon at Fuller Pool, losing to North Country rival St. Lawrence University. The Golden Knight Men lost 115-99, while the Clarkson Women fell 125-90.
Senior Matt Szrama (Orchard Park, NY) led the Clarkson men with two first-place showings. Szrama won the 100 Free (58.47) and the 400 Free (4:43.53). Classmate, Dominic Desiderio (Derby, NY) won the 200 IM (2;27.62). The Knights also won the 200 Medley Relay (2:03.20).
Junior Sarah Morris (Amherst, NY) paced the Knights in the women’s meet with first-place showings in the 200 IM (2:38.52) and 100 Back (1:12.83). Senior Jen Faucett (Charlton, NY) swam to first in the 100 Fly (1;10.74). The Clarkson women also won the 200 Medley Relay (2:11.99) and the 200 Free Relay (1:03.45).
Clarkson competes in the Oswego Relays on Saturday, beginning at noon.
