SZRAMA SETS CLARKSON MARK AS KNIGHTS SWEEP POTSDAM

Potsdam, NY -  Matt Szrama (Orchard Park, NY) broke his own Golden Knights 200 freestyle record as the Clarkson University Swim teams swept Potsdam State in a dual meet.

The Golden Knights' men's team defeated the Bears 141-84 while the women beat Potsdam 164-102.

Szrama bested his own 200 freestyle mark set in 2001 by eight-tenths of a second, reducing the Clarkson record to 1:47.57. He also won the 200 individual medley and was on the winning 400 medley relay team for the Golden Knights.

Kevin Ashcroft (Wolverine Lake, MI) won the 100 butterfly and Dominic Desiderio (Derby, NY) came in first in the 100 breast stroke. Both also swam with Szrama on the winning 400 medley relay. Tom Conway (East Wenatchee, WA) won the 200 breast stroke, Dave Donegan (Camillus, NY) placed first in the 200 back stroke while Conor Stevens (Auburn, ME) came in first in the 500 freestyle. Stevens also swam on the winning 200 freestyle event.

For the women, Sarah Morris (Amherst, NY) and Jen Faucett (Charlton, NY) each won two individual events and participated on the winning 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays. Morris placed first in the 100 and 200 back stroke events, while Faucett came in first in the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle.

Veronica Wolak (Rhinebeck, NY) came in first in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, Kristina Wolak (Rhinebeck, NY) placed first in the 100 and 200 breast stroke races, and Samantha Bragan (Auburn, NY) won both the 500 and 1000 freestyle races.
