HARNER REACHES 1000 POINTS, KNIGHTS MOVE TO 6-1 IN UCAA

January 31, 2004

Geneva, NY - Senior guard Josh Harner (Houston, TX) came within one point of his season-high with 23 points and surpassed the 1,000-point mark as the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team defeated Hobart College 73-62 in an Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association (UCAA) league game Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights improved to 12-6 overall and 6-1 in the UCAA while Hobart fell to 7-10 and 3-4 in the league.

Harner entered Saturday's game needing just eight points to become only the 15th player in Clarkson Men's Basketball history to record 1,000 career points. With 23 points on Saturday, Harner not only entered Clarkson's 1,000-point club, but passed two former Golden Knights' players to move into 13th place all-time on the Golden Knights' scoring list with 1,015 points.

Harner shot 9-for-18 from the floor, including 4-for-10 from beyond the 3-point line, as the Golden Knights raced out to a 20-point halftime advantage, 39-19. With four additional 3-pointers, Harner has connected on 58 long range shots and is within striking distance of the Clarkson single-season record for 3-pointers set by Steve Vega in the 2001-02 season (81).

Senior guard Kevin Williams (Syracuse, NY) enjoyed perhaps his best game of the season, recording 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds for the Golden Knights. Freshman Nick Jones (Washington, DC) also added eight points and six rebounds while classmate EJ Harrison (Troy, NY) contributed eight points and junior point guard Matt Decker (Whitney Point, NY) scored nine points.

The Golden Knights will end the road portion of the UCAA schedule next weekend when they face Vassar and Rensselaer on Friday and Saturday. Clarkson closes the regular season with five straight home games, all against UCAA opponents.
